The Pittsburg Arts Council’s mission is to cultivate a vibrant and diverse arts community within our region. We aim to inspire, promote, and attract fine art, fostering creativity and artistic expression across the community.
We support various artistic disciplines, including visual, performing, literary, and other creative expressions.

The Pittsburg ArtWalk is a bi-annual fine arts festival held in the Pittsburg Arts District in downtown Pittsburg, Kansas. This event showcases local artists, musicians, and performers and celebrates creativity in our community.
The ArtWalk is held from 5 pm - 9 pm.
Public parking is available in the following lots near the event:
Parking is prohibited on Broadway between 4th and 7th Street during the event. Ensure your vehicle is parked behind the barricades.

Not all artists will have point-of-sale devices, so many prefer cash to avoid transaction fees. Please bring cash to ensure you can support the artists and vendors.
Great events need great volunteers! If you wish to volunteer for any Pittsburg Arts Council event, please fill out the form on our website or email PittsburgArtsCouncil@gmail.com.
Volunteer duties include setting up tables and chairs before and after the event, placing signage, picking up trash, assisting artists, and helping with barricades. Volunteering at the ArtWalk is also a great opportunity for students needing community service hours. Volunteers will meet at 3:30 pm at Europe Park before the event and at 8:30 pm at the ArtWalk booth near the end of the event.
Join us for poetry and fiction readings at TJ Leland’s from 5:45 pm to 8:00 pm, featuring local writers, including members of the PSU English Department. An Open Mic will be held from 8:00 pm to 8:45 pm for anyone who wants to share their work.
Kidz Zone is a space dedicated to young artists (ages 12 and under) where they can display or sell their artwork. An adult must accompany all children at all times. Sign up using the artist form on our website: pittsburgartscouncil.com/artwalk-applications.
Chalk the Walk is an interactive activity for everyone to express their creativity. We’ll provide the chalk, and you bring the ideas! Remember, this is a family-friendly event, so keep your drawings clean and positive. Not sure what to draw? Consider writing messages to brighten someone’s day.
The ArtWalk will not be rescheduled, and there is no rain venue. Please be aware that Kansas weather is highly unpredictable, and changes can occur rapidly. We have been fortunate in the past, and stormy weather often dissipated before the event. Please stay updated on the weather through our Facebook page. We appreciate your understanding and hope for ideal weather for ArtWalk.
Sign up to participate in one of the largest art events in Pittsburg! You can register on our website at pittsburgartscouncil.com/artwalk-applications. The Pittsburg ArtWalk is a juried event. The council and its committees reserve the right to refuse participation to anyone who does not meet the qualifications or event requirements.

The ArtWalk prohibits the sale of fan artwork. You can exhibit fan artwork, but it must be marked as “Not For Sale.” Please refer to our complete Fan Art Policy at the following link: Pittsburg ArtWalk Fan Art Policy.docx
Please be aware that you must complete the appropriate tax paperwork for any sales you make during the Pittsburg ArtWalk and submit the necessary taxes directly to the state after the event. If you make sales, you must submit taxes using the Pittsburg ArtWalk tax number or your own if you already have one. It is a legal requirement to display the sales tax certificate that will be provided in the tax packet. Tax forms will be available on event day at the ArtWalk booth at the intersection of 6th and Broadway.
Broadway (from 4th Street to 7th Street) and along 5th and 6th Streets (east to west to the alley) will be closed starting at 3:30 pm. Please allow 30 minutes for traffic to clear before setting up your booth.
Participants may also begin setting up at 4 pm. This timing should provide ample opportunity to clear all vehicles and ease traffic congestion.
Please ensure your setup is completed by 5 pm, as the event officially commences at 5 pm.
You may park your car in your designated location long enough to unload and load your items. Vehicles must be moved out of the barricaded area immediately. During ArtWalk hours, driving and parking within the barricaded area is strictly prohibited. Failure to comply will result in a ban on participation in future events.
For the safety of all ArtWalk participants, we kindly ask that you refrain from leaving until after 9:00 pm, weather permitting. The ArtWalk will conclude at 9:00 pm, and all streets should be cleared by 10:00 pm.
Please bring your tents/canopies, tables, and chairs. We highly recommend using weights for your tents/canopies. Don’t forget the essentials: Sunscreen, water, tape, scissors, paper, table decorations, and signage.

All exhibitors are responsible for their booth and its contents. The Pittsburg Arts Council is not responsible for accidents.
Common consumption allows alcohol to be consumed within a specific area and time frame during the ArtWalk.
A complete list of establishments and vendors participating in common consumption will be posted on social media. Note: Alcohol purchased outside of these locations must remain at the premises and cannot be taken into the common consumption area.
